Our Favorite Remote Work Tools This Year
By Renee Gutierrez · March 9, 2026
No affiliate links, no sponsorships. These are the tools our 9-person remote team actually uses every day.
Project management: Linear. We switched from Notion projects last year and haven't looked back. It's opinionated but fast.
Communication: Slack for quick stuff, Loom for async video, email for external. We tried switching to Discord for a month and everyone hated it.
Design: Figma, obviously. We use Figma variables for our token system. FigJam for brainstorming.
Docs: Notion for internal docs and knowledge base. Google Docs for anything we share externally (proposals, reports).
Video calls: Google Meet. It's fine. Nobody loves it but nobody hates it enough to switch.
Code: GitHub + Vercel for deployment. VS Code for most of the team, one holdout on Cursor.
Time tracking: We don't. We're results-oriented. As long as work gets done, we don't care when you do it.
Password management: 1Password Teams. Non-negotiable for a remote team.
The one tool we couldn't live without: Loom. Async video changed how we work more than any other tool.
